God knows our needs.....

Sometimes you hear stories about God working in amazing ways--some people call them miracles, some people call it coincidence and some people call it pure luck.  Me? I call it faith and believing God will provide for our every need....even when we don't know what that need is.

Of course, in this instance, we knew our need, but we didn't know how God would provide.

In Summer 2015, we had teams back to back from May 2 until the end of August. 17 teams.  WE. WERE. EXHAUSTED.  We needed rest.

At the end of July, we were welcoming a returning team and we were with them on their fun day.  On this trip, we were able to go as a family, which doesn't happen too often.  We went zip lining with the team.

So here is how the story goes....

We arrive for the zip lining. Our team of 24 plus another group of 8 and another couple of 2.  We started on the zip lining and everything was great.  The kids were enjoying it and we were enjoying the team as a family.  Half way through the zip lining they have snacks and water.  Bruce and I and the kids were the first of our group, but before us was the couple--a husband and wife.  So as we are sitting and enjoying our water and scenery, this couple started asking us questions--where are you from, etc.

We started talking about why we were here--working as missionaries and short term mission team leaders, etc..... YADA YADA YADA...

It was a nice conversation and they seemed very interested.  They were on vacation and just enjoying all that Costa Rica had to offer. Everyone else arrived and we continued on our zip lining tour.  At the very end, we said our good byes to the couple and told them to enjoy the rest of their time.

And we continued on with our fun day with the team--onto the beach!

Well, that seems like a nice little story, right!?!?

Then about a week later, we receive an email from said couple.  (mind you, we did not exchange email NOR names).  They wrote to us and said that they had been thinking about us and they wanted to reach out to us.  They wanted to gift our family with 2 nights of get-away vacation time at any hotel where we wanted.  They said they knew how tired we must have been from all of the teams of the long summer weeks (WE MUST HAVE LOOKED REALLY TIRED!!)

Bruce and I were blown away!

We replied to them and told them we still had several teams to finish up and would love to get-away at the end of team season.  We arranged for the end of August after our last team for a break and they reserved the room!  We received confirmation and they even included breakfast for us!

We were so excited and humbled by strangers who wanted to give us a "get-away" as a family.  God knows we needed it--but He also knows that we are not able to stay 2 nights at a 4 1/2 star resort.  So He used two strangers to provide it for us! We didn't need to give them our names or our email addresses--and still they found us--GOD IS GOOD.

Call it what you want....but I know that MY God provides for my every NEED!

Here is a little evidence:

Luke 12:31 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.

Philippians 4:19 And my God will fully supply your every need according to his glorious riches in the Messiah Jesus.

Psalm 34:10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

Psalm 84:11-12 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, How blessed is the man who trusts in You!

Matthew 7:11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

I will continue to believe HIS Word that HE will provide for me and my family--for NOTHING is impossible with GOD (Luke 1:37)

On our way!

This is the view of the hotel/ resort! Breathtaking!

the pool

The beach at sunset

We spent most of our time at the pool! One walk to the beach was enough for the kids--BACK TO THE POOL!

Even did a night swim!

Customary puffy eyes--comfy beds and LOTS of pillows--RICO!!!!

Doing what Emme does best....making friends wherever she goes!

and this little booger!

I'd say it was a good trip!

The morning breakfast was a full international breakfast--by that I mean they had a "typical" breakfast from several different cultures.  They had typical American style breakfast, typical Costa Rican, typical European breakfast--and everything in between!  Everything was AMAZING!!! and BUFFET!!!! YEAH BOY!!

The waffles were such a big hit with the kids! They talked about going back and eating more waffles.  We even sent thank you notes to the couple and both Emme and Leyton talked about their waffles in their notes!

It was such a life changing event that we agreed to purchase a commercial grade waffle iron!

Welcome Willie the Waffle Maker!!!!

So, what do you call this type of story?  Coincidence? Miracle? Luck?

August Fun!!!

Here is a look into August!  It was the busy season coming to an end--after almost 8 straight weeks of teams.....

ENJOY!!

We had three teams during August, it was a nice slow paced, fun time with AWESOME teams!

We welcomed The Bridge Fellowship Church from Tennessee

We also welcomed a dental team, Kuras Dental, from Michigan

We welcomed a SCORE International volleyball team for one day to the Project!

Bruce was able to participate in the "March for Jesus" in downtown San Jose.

Over 1 million people...

Bruce has been busy making coffeemakers!

Bruce showing a team how to make coffee the traditional Costa Rican way--Chorrear cafe!

Had the dental team over for dinner

The team gifted me these flowers and candles--so sweet

Leyton hanging out...he's so cute!

Leyton and Emme got check-ups from the dental team.  It is such a blessing when they do this for us.  Unfortunately, Leyton had 2 tiny cavities, so Dr Young took care of them!

A mini jam session with workers and interns

Work on the new bodega continues

August was the Famous pilgrimage to Cartago.  This sign was on the highway out towards the western coast of Costa Rica.  It says "romeros en la via"-- "pilgrims (not from the Mayflower) on the road.  This was more than 100 km from Cartago and there were LOTS of people walking on the sides of the road

We got to partner with former Language School students who are serving with SCORE international.  They brought some volleyball players!  First time to play volleyball in the multi-use building!

Setting up the net

Doing some passing drills

Jen and I--Two missions working hand in hand!

Bruce went on the 3 crosses hike with Eliel and Adrian on Adrian's last day of internship.  Good times!

Why yes, Steve Jr LOVES pink ice cream in a special cup!

This sign is from POPS ice cream shop.  It says "This Wednesday the people with the last names, Quiros and Jimenez receive a 30% discount.....I wonder if they will ever have the last name Crawford!!?? Ya think????
 NEVER LEAVE YOUR PHONE UNATTENDED!!!
Really, Steve and Steve!?

And these sorry mugs....

What is in her hands you ask!?

A frog of course!

Leyton got to go on a "ride" on the lift!  It's great having connections!

Emme and Leyton were introduced to Surprise Eggs....Thanks Bess and Shawn.....
We said good bye to our favorite neighbors, David and Natalia.  Thankfully they just moved to the next neighborhood!
Taking bags into the new house

They were excited to help and see the new house!

Moving all the big stuff

What a sunset!
We found a dog park--really nice, and pretty close!  Cooper loves it!!!
Cooper checking out all the obstacles

The kids love it too!

I FINALLY got a picture of this!  It is an "IGUANA CROSSING" road sign.  It has taken me 2 YEARS to finally get it!  It makes me laugh!

We found a really COOL barbershop.  Now Leyton doesn't mind going to get his hair cut.  He feels like a man too bad he goes with his mom.....
My parents celebrated 47 years of marriage in August!
Our family was gifted 2 nights at a hotel as a family.

This was the view

And this is where we stayed for 3 days
August was also a time of celebration!

This is my running buddy, Blake and he turned 8! #chiariawareness

August 15th was Mother's Day in Costa Rica--I'll take 2 days of Mother's Day--AND--breakfast in bed!
Thankfully, August was the beginning of a slower pace for us.  Although we are still busy, it is just not hosting teams.

We are working really hard on completing PHASE 1 of the Abraham Project before the Inauguration on November 28.  There is a lot to do before then, so we will try to keep you updated!!!
