This year we welcomed Fellowship Bible Church from Kansas. This was a first time team and they came ready to serve! This was an awesome group of kids--and leaders. One of the leaders, June, had been to the Abraham Project by herself with another group and she had been trying to get back here for several years. Finally, her work came to fruition!
Her husband, Damon, also one of the leaders, is the youth pastor. This was such a great church, great leaders and just a whole bunch of fun kids!
Here is a look into their week!
ENJOY!

Fellowship Bible Church Team, 2016 |
The team arrived on Friday night and Saturday morning, they were up and ready to go hang out with our Youth group from our church. A day of activities, prayer and devotion.
First day on the ground and we are heading out for an excursion with our youth group |

This is where Leyton stayed most of the day! |
Games--ice breakers |
Eating lunch |

The ladies taking a tour of the park |
We also had the team over for dinner. As with other teams, Bruce likes to challenge them with eating peppers and this team accepted the challenge. And one by one they all went down.
The funny thing is I didn't have any pictures of the night except this gem. This is the leader, Damon, after eating a pepper. CLASSIC!
On Sunday after church, the team got to hang out with the children from the Children's Homes, eat lunch and play games.
Lunch!! |
Then Sunday night, we went to cell group.

The work at the Project was a lot of painting. This team worked fast, clean and very thorough! We love that!!
Painting the fences--rainy season ready! |
Bruce and a couple of kids worked on the 3 crosses for the Easter celebration |

When asked to help clean the sanctuary, you get the industrial leaf blower--worked like a charm! |
The team also went to a new feeding ministry partner at a small church in a very needy area. They helped cook, serve, clean up and did activities with the children that came to the feeding ministry.
Bus couldn't go down the dirt road, so we walked! |

A couple of guys helped work on a small room that will function as a computer room |
This is where they had to stop because the feeding ministry started and they couldn't work any more |
Here was the room a week after the team left...making quick progress |
Getting ready by cleaning tables |
Cleaning the toilets is service as well, and this girl did it WITHOUT complaining--not once! |
sweeping and cleaning the floor before the day starts |
Washing dishes was definitely a BIG help for the ladies in the kitchen |
Prepping the juice! |
After the feeding ministry, we were heading back to the bus and we saw a man who had been moving blocks up the hillside by himself since we arrived in the morning. We took our team and asked if he wanted help. We finished in 10 minutes what would have taken him the rest of the day by himself. That, my friends, is time well spent and a testimony to this team.
Carrying the blocks, two by two |
They figured out real quick that an assembly line was the best method for the small walking path |
The team also had a fun volleyball and game night with our youth.
Of course, the youth shared a short devotional to begin the evening |
Volleyball was intense! |
Ping pong was AWESOME! |
Playing games with the youth |
Volleyball night with the youth was a HIT! |
Our fun day included waterfall repelling. This was the first time that a team wanted to do something like this. So we headed toward the Pacific side of Costa Rica to Manuel Antonio (Quepos).
Checking out Quepos Central |
Trying to climb a tree to get a coconut!!?? |
The team bought t-shirts and gifted me one as well. This sums up our trip--IT.WAS.AWESOME. |
And we finished up with souvenir shopping downtown!
Artisan Market |
Happy with their purchases! |
This team was just plain awesome! We had such a good time with them and they were a perfect example of flexible, servant minded kids! What more could you ask for?!?!
JUST COME BACK AGAIN!!!
Thanks Fellowship!
