Shalom Christian Academy, PA

Well, we closed out 2018 team season with the return of the Shalom Christian Academy Senior Class trip, from Pennsylvania.  We always love welcoming this school for their senior trip! They know they are going on a senior class mission/class trip from the time they enter high school freshman year--and probably even before that! Isn't that awesome!

Take a look at their week!

Shalom Senior Class 2018!
The first night they arrived, we did the tour of the Abraham Project and then we walked up to our house for a Costa Rican BBQ! Our house was full of food and fellowship!

Everyone in line for the food!

They were in our yard!

On the back porch

And in the house as well!
On Wednesday, the team split up in construction with Bruce and in daycare with Angie. The team taught on the fruits of the Spirit! The kids had a great time, but really LOVED the relationships with the team members!

Activities with the kids!

Helping color

Songs and dancing, of course!

The construction workers worked on the Phase 2 houses, bending rebar, cleaning up Phase 2, cleaning up, and whatever else was needed!

On Wednesday evening, we took the team to Pizza a La Leña for dinner! YUM!

We took up the whole restaurant!

On Saturday, the team went on their fun day to Los Sueños zip lining and then to the beach. When we got to the coast, it was starting to rain. Thankfully, the zip lining was in the canopy, so we didn't get too wet! But after we finished and went to the beach, it was a pretty yucky day for the beach. We stayed about an hour or so and decided to head out. Overall, still a good, fun day!

The crew zip lining!
On our way to zip lining in the morning, we stopped by the infamous Tarcoles River with all of the really BIG crocodiles.

BIG CROCS!

On Sunday, the team went to church, then had lunch with the Children's Homes and then played with the kids.

Then it was just a normal day for us with teams!

A trip to the bakery!

On Thursday, the team went to La Carpio, a church and feeding ministry that we partner with. Our teams ALWAYS love the time there and so do the kids! It is a time to just let them be kids!

Helping the ladies in the kitchen
After we served the kids lunch, the team had a whole bunch of different activities for the kids to do! They loved it and it was CRAZY!!!

Face painting!

Bracelets and God's eyes
After serving the kids lunch and activities with them, the church served us food and we enjoyed it!

Friday night, we went on a special dinner to Tiquicia Restaurant. It is a restaurant that overlooks the Central Valley, with a beautiful view of the Valley at night! It was our first time going there and we can't wait to go back again!

The view from the restaurant
The night included dinner and a typical dance show.

The dresses are huge!

Costume change for the different culture from Guanacaste

The group was included in the show as well!
On the last Thursday, the team did another fun day to Irazú Volcano and the Basilica in Cartago and finished the day with 2 baptisms on the team.  Bruce and Jorge (one of our construction workers were blessed to be a part of it and baptized the two ladies. It was pretty cool to watch--but also some of our daycare kids got to watch it as well!

And after the team leaves, we take all their clothes and shoes that they donate and wash them and then give them to where they are needed.

A big ol' pile of clothes for Cooper to lay on!

This is only a snap shot of what the team did while they were here.  We were busy and we worked a lot! We are so thankful for the relationship that we have with Shalom and getting to know their students!

In HIM,
