September Fun!

Check out what we did in September....just a peek!

Leyton got to do a special building project with Daddy--Angry bird building blocks!

At the end of August after team season, I started an English class with the older kids in the daycare. We met 3 times a week.  Trying to help these kids pass English!

My main kids!
Also in September, Bruce and I got to get away--just the two of us!  We were gifted 2 nights at a secluded hotel.  It was very nice and quiet!

We were super thankful to Laura, our intern, and to our friends, Natalia and David for helping us with the kids!

Nice to have a hatchback!
September, of course, is also the month of Independence for much of Central American countries--including Costa Rica.  So we do our annual celebration of making faroles (lanterns) and participating in parades at school.

For the Independence celebration at the Daycare, we had a surprise visit by the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solis.

Typical Costa Rican breakfast--because sometimes you just have to!

Leyton playing pool for the first time while waiting for his haircut--coolest barber shop ever!

September was also time for Volcano Turriabla to want to start exploding again.  A picture of the ash in San Jose (this was not me)

I was also lucky to have one of my bestest friends come and stay with us for a week.  We got to do girly stuff together!  So blessed to have her come and hang out with me!

We had a dinner of close friends!

Yes, I am on my knees...Natalia really is THAT short!
Sara and I got to do a tour of horseback riding and swimming in waterfalls at Nauyaca Waterfalls.

On the way there in the morning--Perez Zeledon valley! Beautiful
Getting ready to head out!
Yeah, I don't ride horses--but you'd never know, right!!??
Stopped for breakfast on the way to the waterfalls
Just a walkin'
Arrived to the waterfalls--yes, they are that big!
And then later swimming in the waterfalls
Beautiful!
Then after the tour, we headed a little more south to Playa Ballena (Whale Tail beach) and walked the pretty beach!

Always find sand dollars there!

The beach--it is a national park, so not a lot of people! So pretty!
Yes, there are crocodiles....but we didn't see any

Unfortunately, all things have to come to an end!  So thankful for her!

After we dropped Sara off at the airport, we headed for our family weekend getaway!  Thankful for the family who blessed our family with this time together.  This is the second year in a row they blessed us with 2 nights at an AMAZING hotel!

We are all excited to go!!
Our view from the hotel room! 2 nights of HEAVEN on earth!

Thanks for checking out some of our happenings!  It's not always easy; it's not always exciting, but it's our life and we are trying to live it to the Glory of the Lord!

August Fun!

Here is a look into our life--through pictures!  Enjoy a look at August!

In August, we welcomed two teams.  This is what it looks like when we have teams...

I sit and do nothing while the team works! Ha ha

Leyton gets to help daddy

He really is working--knocking the slag off the welds

Got to see a sun halo--first time!

Got to have some fun time with girls.  My friends Rode and Jenny and their kids came over to have cafecito (3 o'clock coffee time) and pupusas (corn tortillas stuffed with cheese) YUM!

Kids started a game of Sorry and the moms finished it!

Comfort food!  Fried chicken, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy and corn on the cob!

This was pretty much what happened every night during August--recuperation after busy team season!

Just a pretty picture of the daycare!
We had several interns with us during the summer.  Katherine and Emme really hit it off.  She was sad to see her leave!

Saying goodbye!

Emme also connected with one of our team members, Bailey

And Seth and Leyton hit it off too!

We got to experience a pretty good sized earthquake here.  It was only 4.6, but it was super close to us. About 15km or so from us!  It shook us pretty good!

The earthquake information

Daycare evacuated the building

Every once in awhile we get to see Steve be himself....being one of the kids!
Giving candy to the babies!

Leyton was proud of his doggie
Leyton love to help the painters at the Project.  And they are so good to him and let him paint.  He does a really good job and LOVES it when he gets to help!

Helping paint the peacock

Getting some lessons on base coat from Nata

Bruce was able to go with Sergio Nix to a youth detention center to do some ministry work.  They took in some skateboards, ramps and shared the Word with these kids.  A rough place, but well worth it! We were able to take some of the ramps with us in our truck--it has been such a blessing using it for ministry.
Picture of Sergio with some of the kids.

Leyton at school at a birthday party--HAM!
In August we welcomed another intern, Laura.  She is staying with us for 3 months.  She has already been a great asset for us!

Emme got to have a sleepover with one of her best friends!

Emme and Luana "sleeping"
August was also the time of losing teeth!

Leyton lost his 5th tooth

And the next day, Emme lost her 9th tooth
Well, that is basically what August looked like for us!

Thank you for all of your support and prayers!
