First Dental Team

Since the Abraham Project has started, there was always a vision of medical and dental outreach.  Clinica Biblica (a very large private hospital here in Costa Rica) has been a partnering entity.  they have provided medical outreach at our Salon Multi-uso building.  It has been so neat to be a part of this and watch it develop, as well as go through ups and downs.

This past April, we welcomed our first dental team for the week of April 6-11.  This was a team of 2 pediatric dentists and 3 assistants from Tennessee.

Check out their website:

Pediatric Dental Group-Tennessee

Dr. John Acosta and Dr. Keenon Curtis were amazing!  Their assistants Allie Stewart, Michelle Tamboli and Lori Orfans were super awesome!  They were amazing with the kids, patients, and all the ins and outs of being and English speaking team in a Spanish speaking country.

While they were here, they saw over 100 patients (I can't remember exact number).  And they were amazing!!!

They were an absolute blessing to the surrounding community and to our family.  After they were done with their appointments, they offered to take care of our family as well.  Happy to report no cavities from any of us!

Here are some pictures of our time with them.

Michelle and Dr. K wanted to play soccer with the workers! How cool!

Leyton LOVED Mr. Slurpee

He wanted to do it before Michelle was finished!

Dr J TRYING to talk to Leyton about the importance of brushing his teeth (he doesn't like to)...I think it has helped! Thanks Dr. J!

All done! Clean check up as well

So sweet. Dr J and Emme

She really loved Dr J! She was so sad when he left!
Before the team left, they took a trip to Rio Azul to understand the area and type of clients they had served all week.  It was quite a trek to get all the way up to the house!

After the team left, Dr K bought Emme and Leyton a BAG of Snickers--what a cool dentist!

Overall, the team was such a joy to have here.  And a blessing for the surrounding communities.  Not only did they come and serve, but they also came and got to know the people they were serving.  I definitely think they left a little of their heart here in Costa Rica.

Until next time PDG!!

Blessings!
The Crawfords
