March Fun, 2016!

Here is a look in our life through photos.....

We had three short term mission teams in March-

Touch the World- Christian School of York, PA Senior class

Joshua Expeditions- Prestonwood Christian Academy

Fellowship Bible Church, KS
These were AWESOME teams and we were so blessed to have them in our lives--even if for a short time!

We started a new relationship with a new feeding ministry.  La Iglesia Roca Fuerte is a small church very close to us in Calle Girales.  Pastor Santos and his wife have been working diligently to provide food to the children in the community.

The sign of the Comedor name and hours.
This is Pastor Santos. Emme was giving him a donation of shoes.

This is the back side of the church.  It is in DIRE need of a retaining wall.

The road up to the church

Can't really tell in this picture, but there is a drop off on the right side of the car--we were close!
Bruce had success at getting one of his Carolina Reaper plants growing--but then it died!
We had a special night with the older boys of the children homes.  We watched Nacho Libre and ate LOTS of nachos!
The "make your own nachos" spread!

Here are the kids making their own nachos!

NACHOS!!!!!

This was Bruce's plate!

After the nachos and the movie, pillow fight!

And Tio Steve and Tia Gigi made popcorn balls for all!!
March was also the first time we had exams.  This was a new experience for Leyton.  Here we are studying how to write our name and the date. (no, I'm not asleep...I'm looking down)

The month of March we also helped watch our friend, Maria's kids.  It was a tough time to balance another two kids, but I think we did a pretty good job!

Here is Leyton and Jordan

Me, Joshua and Emme
March also included Semana Santa, Holy Week.  One of our teams helped with the making of the crosses and other props for the Easter skit at church.  Here are a few of the AMAZING people who are part of our Arte Fusion group.

My friend, Jenni had offered for almost a year to teach me how to make "paches" which are Guatemalan traditional potato tamales--TO.DIE.FOR
Our intern, Savannah was able to help us make them!  We had a great time of fellowship and eating paches!

The wrapping process

After cooking all morning, we decided to make tortillas for cafecito

And Jenni made us another Guatemalan dish with the left over sauce--IT.WAS.DELISH

And then we did a whole lot of normal life!

We were gifted some money to do something as a family.  So we went to Johnny Rocket's for the first time.  Emme was SHOCKED at the size of her hotdog!

Leyton was running at school and took a nasty fall--maybe he will learn--but probably not!

I went running on the newly asphalted highway.  It was so hot that the asphalt was sticking to my shoes! YIKES!

We had a big ol' visitor in our house! A normal occurrence!

First time to play Scrabble with Emme--she had a hard time thinking of English words!

Must be rainy season!  This was in the bathroom at the Hyatt Place hotel!

Doing homework!

The kids found some wild cherry tomatoes!  YUM!!

Can't leave your phone alone around these two!
Also during Holy Week, we were invited to go to the farm with our friends David and Natalia.  We spent three days there and had a great time getting out of the city!

Natalia and me making the sleeping arrangements in the attic
We spent lots of time at the river!
David, Emme and Leyton in the river

Leyton wanted to jump in--he looks nervous, but did it!

There were tadpoles everywhere--I think that was Leyton's favorite part!

Emme swimming with the goggles and Leyton catching tadpoles!

Everyone at the river

At night--no city/light pollution.  It was DARK at night

They also had a swimming pool.  Leyton jumping in!

This worked for me!  Hammock!
At night we played Bingo.  David was quite the comical caller

Natalia and I were sitting right under the light bulb and there were a million bugs! Keeping them out of my mouth and nose!
We also went to the hot springs at night.  This was the slide that Leyton went down about a million times! So much fun!

This was our cabin.
We also went to a community outreach with our cell group.  They had musical talent, a bike race, food and lots of community members show up! It was an awesome evangelical event!

The kids on the street listening to the music and playing

Emme listening to the music and eating an apretado (frozen fruit popscicle)

Alter call
We also got to be a part of our friend's son's birthday party!  Costa Rican style!

Leyton was a part of the clown's act--he is under that hat!

And Bruce and David were also part of the clown's act! haha!

Yep!

Piñata Time!!!
The birthday boy, Sebastian

Emme facepainted and with scary teeth!

Thank you to all of our supporters--financially and prayerfully! This is just a little look into our life here in Costa Rica!
