Holidays in the States Part 2: Indiana

So after our time in New Jersey and New York, it was time to set sail on an airplane again and fly into Lexington, KY.  We met up with our friends who drove the car that was lent to us and we decided to have lunch together.  It was a great time with friends and the kids that have wanted to see each other for so long, finally did!

On the airplane with their new buddies!

Made it to Lexington, had lunch with friends and were given other jackets to use!

The Waddell kids and Crawford kids reunited again!

And the parents had their own table--just adult conversation! Thankful for Sara and Micah on so many levels!

After we had lunch we were off to Bowling Green for a consultation with Vascular surgeon about my vericose veins.  While in the hospital offices, there was this cool decoration on the door.  Emme and Leyton said we needed to take a picture to show Mimi (my mom).

Leyton with the snowman made from cups!
After the Doctor office visit, we were on the road again to Fort Wayne to spend time with family.  By the time we got there we were all exhausted!

While we were in Fort Wayne, we got to do some pretty fun stuff, but mainly we hung out with family and friends!

First thing we saw in Fort Wayne was Mimi's village.  She takes it to a whole new level every year and the kids LOVE IT!

Emme was a natural on ice--of course, just like her mama!

Leyton did really good at keeping his feet under him, not bad for first time!

Family ice skating!

We were able to celebrate Emme's 9th birthday with family.  She was excited to be with everyone.

Blowing out her candles!

Leyton checking out Papa's houses under the Christmas tree.

Got to drive by one of our favorite restaurant--Fort Wayne's Famous Coney Island..mmmmm
We were able to speak at Faith Community Church in Elkhart, Indiana.  So thankful for our friends Randy and Tammy Smith and their church community!

After church we had lunch with their family and the kids got to decorate cookies with Tammy and her grandson.

This was the turkey we TRIED to cook, but it was too cold outside and took A LOT longer than anticipated--luckily we had ham too!

Christmas morning--new headphones!

Emme got her own iPad for Christmas (it was ours)

Me, cuttin' the cheese--no pun intended!

Seriously, I think I ate a couple of pounds while I was cutting--I miss cheese!

Of course Bruce and I had a "date" at Saigon--PHO!!!!!!!!!!

Just happened to be in town for the Go Dog Go reunion show! Just like old times!

Hanging out with friends--the Donlan girls--Colleen, Ann and Emily (and a photobomb by Bruce)

Breakfast tradition on Christmas morning

The kids got to help Mimi and Papa pick out a Christmas tree--It was cold and late, but we found a good one!

Then they decorated a special Christmas tree that Mimi had for them!

We got to hang out with this crazy guy, Phill, and his beautiful wife, Steph for dinner and coffee afterwards.  So thankful our time overlapped and could catch up!
Every time Bruce and Phill get together, they do some kind of shenanigans--like this! The people at Starbucks thought they were crazy!

Uncle Kevin and Leyton wrestling.

Emme helping Mimi make and decorate cookies!

She did a really good job!

All of us, with Uncle Steven and Tracey at the Komets hockey game.  First time for the kids and first in a LONG time for Bruce and I.

First 2 seconds there was a fight and 2 penalties--the kids were confused, but they liked it!

Walking out of the game--our first sighting of snow!

The drunk bearded guy that had to get a picture with Bruce--they were both on the Jumbo-Tron for their beards!!!

Love the zamboni!

Leyton did good, he didn't want to stay the whole time, but he made it!

"Us-ie" in the snow after the hockey game!

The morning before we left for Kentucky, we had a family breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

On our way out of Fort Wayne, we always stop by Indianapolis to see our friends Jason and Jennifer.  This is Leyton and their son Levi playing together.  Such sweet boys!
Our time in Indiana was short but sweet.  We tried to make as many memories with family and friends.  I think the kids had a really good time this year!  Unfortunately we didn't get to see everyone that we wanted, but hopefully next time!

After Indiana, we were on the road to Kentucky to see friends, churches and our home church!

Off we go!
